In the beginning of their marriage the couple lived and farmed on the farm AGTER DE KOGMANS KLOOF (today known as Montagu). When their children were little, they moved to Graaf-Reinet where he carried on farming. Today, about 5km from Montagu, there is a few farms known as DERDE HEUWEL owned by the Kriel family - Owner Japie Kriel has a "fondament-steen ingebou in the woonhuis met die voorletters J.S.B. 1808 daarop ingegraveer". Unfortunately the inscription is not very easy to see as the walls and the stone have been painted. It is told that the stone was rescued from the original house of the first Boshoff house and built into the foundations of the current house. It is also interesting that the farm is still registered under the name Boshoff. Diana Scogings bought the farm in 1980 "het Mev Kriel 'n plek verwys waar daar onbekende grafte is". It is not certain that these are from the Boshoff family.
