About Jacobus Geldenhuys

Jacobus "Nompie" Geldenhuys (1965 - 2003)

Brief overview:

Nompie (38), was found murdered next to a dirt road near farms between Soshanguve and Onderstepoort, north of Pretoria, by a homestead owner on 24th July 2003, around 20h40. He had been shot in the head. Three shell casings were found near to his body.

Nompie had been to visit his wife Jenny (37), who was in hospital in Sunnyside, Pretoria, and left at around 19h45. Jenny had received a voice mail from Nompie at around 20h10. She listened to it a little later, and she heard a confusing conversation in a moving vehicle. There were snippets of Sotho conversation on the voice mail. "I couldn't hear clearly what the men said. I also heard an advert from 94.7 Highveld Stereo in the background. A voice spoke before the end of the message said 'dumêla o kae'.

    • 08/10/2014: "More than 10 years after he was sentenced to multiple life sentences for a spate of killings – including the high-profile murder of baby Kayla Rawstorne, her mother and grandmother – the man dubbed the devil himself by a judge has turned to the court to seek a sentence reduction. William Kekana did not appeal his six life sentences and an additional 60 years’ imprisonment in the Rawstorne matter, but rather the life term as well as 35 years he received for the cold-blooded, execution-style killing of Brits resident Jacobus Geldenhuys. Kekana was sentenced for the Geldenhuys murder a few weeks before he was convicted for the Rawstone family killings. Geldenhuys was hijacked in Sunnyside, Pretoria, on July 22, 2003 when he returned to his car after visiting his wife at the Medicross Heart Hospital. Geldenhuys was taken to a deserted plot in Pretoria North, where he was shot three times in the head – execution-style. Kekana was at the time with his friend Fido Baloyi, who joined him a week later in the Rawstorne triple killing."
