The transcription of his death notice gives his place of birth as "Klipperlein, District Albert" and "At his father's house wagon, McKernley" as the place where he died.
Much credit to Charmaine Carstens (Labuschagne) for identifying the correct place names. She wrote,
I think the transcriber got quite a bit wrong here. Just comparing some of the letters in different words I saw a couple of discrepancies and the day on which die died is the Thirtieth and not the Thirteenth.
I also think "Klipperlein, District Albert" should be Klipfontein District Albert and "At his father's house wagon, McKernley" should be Wagon Makersvlij
I noticed Steynsburg on the death notice and went looking for farms in that area with the names as I read it and et voila! It’s not in the Albert District as we know it today but it’s very close so I hope I’m right!
