About Jacques Botha
Jacques Botha (1961 – 2012)
Brief overview:
Jacques (51), was shot dead in front of his second wife, Anel (45), and their 3-year-old son, Neo, on their smallholding in Mulderdrift, on 17th November 2012. He was shot six times - in the chest, side and kidney. Anel tried to hide in a room with Neo, but the perpetrators held her at knife point, wanting the laptop and cellphone. Mike Walden (63), the Botha's neighbour, living on the same smallholding, helped Anel get Jacques into his car in a bloody duvet. They raced off to Fouthways Life Hospital, but Jacques died en route.
Five years prior, his wife from a previous marriage, was brutally beaten and murdered, during a house robbery in Moreleta Park, Pretoria, in front of him and his daughter, Tanya (22). In that attack, six men broke into the Bothas' home in Pretoria in March 2007 and attacked him, his then wife, Tinkie, 44, Tanya and her boyfriend and a friend with knives and bricks. Tanya's mother later died in the Pretoria East hospital due to blood loss.
