James D. Colson Adams, 90, died Wednesday about 10 a.m. at his home on R.R.8, Greensburg.
Mr. Adams was born in Polaski County in Kentucky, Sept. 10, 1894, the son of John and Mary Jane Harris Adams. He was married to Ruth Richardson Feb. 15, 1934, in Somerset, Ky., and she survives. He was a retired coal miner and farmer.
He is survived by, in addition to his wife, 11 children, including five sons: Orville Adams, Williamstown, James A. Adams, Brownsburg, William Adams, Mesa, Ariz., Kenneth R. Adams, Milroy, and Anthony Adams, Greensburg; six daughters: Juanita Burdine, Somerset, Ky., Hazel, Carlton, Lizton, Thelma Burdine, Salt Lake city, Utah, Audrey Newman, Pittsboro and Faye Whitaker and Betty Hyden, both of Greensburg: one brother, Walter Adams, Connersville; one sister, Melda Dobkins, Shelbyville; 52 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren.
The services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Simpson and the Rev. William Simpson co-officiating, and with burial in the South Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.
