James Arbuckle

JAMES ARBUCKLE

James Arbuckle, here treated, is said to have been born in Pennsylvania in about 1690 and to have died in February 1761, at No Liberties Twp, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Colonial America. He married Mary Harding and later Rachel Thomas (née Livezey)

He seems to have been a man of great consequence in the trade and (perhaps) integral to the neighborhood known as Arbuckle's Row in the commercial part ot Northern Liberties by the Delaware River. He seems to have owned the schooner Resolution" that traded along the Eastern seaboard.. see documents

He married Mary Hilborn at the Middletown Monthly Meeting in Bucks County on 6 Jul 1721. She was born as Mary Harding at Southampton Twp, Bucks, Pennsylvania 18 Jan 1688 daughter of Thomas Harding and Mary Bullock. She was Robert Hilborn’s widow.

They were the parents of 3 children:

1. Grace Arbuckle born Abt 1722.
2. John Arbuckle born Abt 1724.
3. Hannah Arbuckle born Abt 1726.

He married Rachel Thomas in 1749.

James Arbuckle died Abt Feb 1761 at No Liberties Twp, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania .
