males: 1 under 5, 1 5-10, one 20-30, one 40-50 [who is this??]; females: one under 5, one 30-40. Who would the extra man in the household be??
He died between 1830-1840. His widow Elizabeth is listed as HOH in 1840 census.
Perhaps he died in service. JAMES ALDREGE was listed among a roster of Privates in the Fairfield militia mustered as an independent mounted militia from Winnsboro in the Seminole Wars. Muster Roll of Capt. Daniel Smith's company of SC mounted militia mustered into service 17 February 1836 for 3 months. Did he die during this time?
James's death preceded his father's, since he was described in his father's 1847 will as deceased.
Graham Louer speculates that this James married a cousin, Elizabeth Arledge, daughter of WIlliam and Mary.
