Lafayette Barton of the Dry Creek section died at his home Monday night, after a brief illness from affection of the heart. Mr. Barton was a substantial farmer and long-time resident in the lower section of the county.
He is survived by his widow Mrs. Catherine Barton, who was his second wife and by the following sons and daughters: James Barton and Mrs. Joe Beckham of Columbia and Mrs. Nannie Harris of the Heath Springs section.
The funeral services and interment took place in Old Salem cemetery, near Heath Springs, on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. F.A. Drennan, pastor of the Heath Springs Presbyterian church officiating. Mr. Barton was a member of the Methodist church.
