Updated January 2018 from Geni member Julie Wilson

I am contacting you about this profile: regarding the profile of James S. Bond...the profile indicates that a distillery was left to his son, David Bond. David Bond, to whom a distillery was left, and for whom Bond's Mill (route 513) was named, was my great grand uncle. It was left to him along with my other great grand uncle, William F. Bond (the third William F. Bond in Anderson County), by my 3rd great grandfather, John Bond, who was the original whiskey (bourbon) distiller in the area. David, my great great grandfather, John Wilkerson Bond, and William F. (The third), were all in business together as farmers and bourbon producers. After the eldest brother David died, William F took over the operation of the distillery and formed a partnership with CC Lillard, who was his sister's husband, and the Bond brand became Bond and Lillard, which was world renowned.
The David Bond in your profile noted as inheriting the distillery was a different David Bond. The David Bond in your profile was actually the half first cousin of the David Bond who inherited the distillery. Their fathers, John Bond and James S. Bond, were half brothers. James S's mother was Sarah Francis Ballou, who died circa 1786. John Bond's mother, was Sara Cranson Bond, William F's (the first in Anderson County) second wife. Hope this helps!
