One pedigree offers 9 May 1594 as his birth date and two offer 13 August 1595 as his birth date. Concerning the first date. A birth or baptism for a child named James Bruce cannot be identified at Dysart on 9 May 1594. It seems possible, therefore, that this date represents an error in transcription. If this is the case then it may refer to the baptism of a child named James Bruce which was registered at Dysart on 9 March 1594. In this particular case the name of the father cannot be identified.
