About James A. Bush
Waterville Times 1897 Obituary
James Bush On Saturday afternoon Mr. James Bush died suddenly of heart disease in the barn at his home between this village and Sangerfield. His Daughter Mrs. C. M. West and her husband of this village, and son Medina Bush of Utica had been spending the afternoon with their parents. Mr. Bush went to the barn late in the afternoon to do the chores. Mr. & Mrs. West meanwhile having left for their home. Mrs. Bush and her son had expected Mr. Bush in at every minute and when it began to get dark they wondered at his absence. Finally the son went to the barn and was shocked to find his father dead. He was in a sitting position and leaning against the side of the barn. There was no evidence of him having fallen or any struggle, and it is concluded that death came suddenly and painlessly. He ate a hearty dinner on the day of his death and seemed as well as usual.
The deceased was in his 70th year. He was the son of the late Moses Bush, was born on the Bush farm in the south part of the town, and always lived here. During his long residence and upright life he had secured the good will and esteem of a host of friends who deeply regret his sudden demise. His funeral was held from the house on Wednesday at 1 o'clock, interment being made in the family lot at Sangerfield Center.
