He left a will, dated Apr 20th 1762, proved in Chesterfield County. James Deans, Merchant. To wife Caroline. Daughter Mary Deans (unmarried). Sisters Katherine and Christine Deans. Anne and Margaret, daughters of his friend James Murray, of Athol Braes.

  • Robertson, Wyndham (1887), Pocahontas and her Descendants, p. 34 (gen 5), p. 38 (children). Archive.Org credits Thomas with a wife and children, while saying his brother John died unmarried. This appears to be garbled. A better account is in the V.M.H.B series, which says the wife and children credited to Thomas are actually John's. The Mary and Sukey shown as Thomas's daughters by Robertson (p. 38) are evidently the nieces who made the pension application. It was John's son John who died unmarried, killed at the battle of Princeton in 1777.
