James Ray Gooding - Obit - Cumberland Evening Times - Jan 8 1952
Pierce, W, Va. - James Ray Gooding, 50, died yesterday at Hopemont Sanitarium where he had been a patient about three months.
Born November 27, 1892, at Coketon, he was a son of the late William and Mary (Hardesty) Gooding. He had been employed at Davis Coal and Coke Company for 46 years and had been superintendent of Mine No. 40 here for ten years.
Survivors include his widow the former Ruth Drenning, four sons, James C. Gooding, Hagerstown; Charles R. Gooding, Buckhannon; Glen J. Gooding and Carl W. Gooding, Middleboro, KY., one daughter, Mrs. Stuart Cooper, Thomas, one brother, William Gooding, Fairmont, two sisters, Mrs. Harrison Teets, Terra Alta, Mrs. Ida Bice, Haywood Junction, and ten grandchildren.
He was a member of IOOF Lodge No. 145 of Thomas and the Fraternal Order of Eages Aerie at Davis. The body is at Duncan's Funeral Home at Thomas were a funeral service will be held tomorrow at 3:30 pm with Rev. A. Mann, pastor of Thomas Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Roze Hill Cemetary.
