About James Charles Hammons
GEDCOM Note
OBIT: Kingston Messenger 7-29-1920 Oklahoma DEATH: At family home in Konawa, Seminole Co.,OK USA
James Charles Hammons and his wife Lou Anna Salyer moved from Kentucky to Williamson Co.,TX then later Milam Co., TX in the mid 1870's. Many other family members moved to Texas also from Louanna's family. The Hammons family owned a nice farm near Thorndale in a little olace called Lilac. We searched all over for Lilac, but all that was left in about 1977 was a cemetery and an abandoned wooden frame school/church house. The family migrated from Texas to Indian Territory some time in the early 1900's. The countryside is beautiful where they lived in Texas. I inquired as to why they would leave and move to Indian Territory. I was told there was a lot of malaria in the area and tahey were trying to escape this troublesome sickness. Some of James Charles's children change the spelling of their name to Hamons. Burial of James in July 24, 1920 in Kingston, Marshall Co., OK Burial f Louanna July 4, 1921 in Kingston, Marshall Co., OK This was taken from notes of Nancy Langston
