About James William Hardy
Death Of James Hardy. (Special To Herald)
Provo, November 1 - James Hardy died at his home in the Second Ward this afternoon after a lingering illness. He was born in Great Hadham, Hertfordshire, England, September 3, 1832 and came to Utah in 1863.
He lived in Salt Lake City one year, when he came to Provo and has resided here since. Mr. Hardy was prominent is Sunday School work until his health failed. General debility and partial paralysis was the cause of death. He leaves a wife and ten children. Funeral will take place from the Second Ward Meeting House Monday at 1 p.m.

James Hardy was the son of Rebecca Osborne Hardy and William Manning Hardy.
He married Mary Ann Hyde February 4, 1855 at Horsley Downs Church, Bermondsey, England. He married Elizabeth Smith August 3, 1874 in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City, Utah.
With Mary Ann they had eight children: Nephi Arthur Henry Hardy, Lorenzo Harold Hardy, Elizabeth Mary Ann Hardy Russell, Erastus James William Hardy, Frederick Josiah Hardy, Sarah Rebecca Hardy, Phoebe Ann Hardy and Charles Heber Hardy.
With Elizabeth Smith they had five children: Sarah Elizabeth Hardy, Thomas Smith Hardy, Albert Smith Hardy, Annie Hardy Madsen and George Willard Hardy.
