James Harsh, 93, of 2499 Zerbe Rd., Narvon, formerly of New Holland, died Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center. Born in Earl Twp., he was the son of the late William and Anna (Ranck) Harsh. During World War II, he served in the Army, participating in Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe battles. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his service. After his military service, he became the accountant for the former A. R. Sensenig Chrysler/Plymouth dealership for 52 years. He was a member of Ranck's United Methodist Church. Surviving is a son, James L. married to Charlotte (Martin) Harsh, East Earl; two grandchildren: Casey Harsh and James H. Harsh; a great grandson, Ethan James Harsh; and two step-grandchildren: Shannon Martin and Tim Miller. He was preceded in death by a son John W. "Jack" Harsh; a step-son George E. Miller; and six siblings: William Harsh, Leroy Harsh, Mary Harsh, Myrtle Harsh, Cora Harsh, and Armita Good. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 7:30 PM at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with Pastor Kevin Readman officiating. Private interment will be in Ranck's United Methodist Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 6:30 PM until the time of service.
