About James Robinson Howe
U.S. Congressman. Successful in the in the dry-goods business, he entered politics and was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fourth and Fifty-fifth Congresses, serving (1895-99). Declining to be a candidate for reelection, he was the Register of Kings County, New York, (1900-02) and served as director of several banks until his death.
