The month and years of each of their births was listed as follows: James, June, 1856, Mary - June 1862, Maria - May, 1885, William - January, 1887, Margaret - March, 1890, Lizzie - September, 1891, Rosa - May, 1894, Jon - May 1897, and Catherine - September, 1899. James and Mary had been married for 17 years and had given birth to 9 children, 7 of whom were still living. This census record indicated that James, Mary, and Mariah were all born in Ireland, and all the remaining children were born in Pennsylvania. James came to America in 1888, Mary and Mariah in 1889. James was working as a coal miner.
By 1910, they were living in Marianna, Washington County, Pennsylvania, and were listed as follows: James, 51, Mary, 48, Margaret, 21, Rose, 17, John, 13, and Catherine, 10 years old. James was working as a fire boss in a coal mine, Mary was working as a cook in the boarding house, Margaret was working as a helper in the boarding house, Don and Thomas were working as riveters in a tipple, Pete as a foreman in a tipple, and Sess as a house painter. This census record indicates that James came to America from Ireland in 1908 and that Mary came to America from Ireland in 1882, so those dates don't agree with the ones shown in the 1900 census record.
