About James Lawerence Lardner, Jr.
The son of Rear Admiral James Lawrence Lardner's second wife, Ellen, he was born in Philadelphia in about 1857. He resided in the Lynford Lardner mansion of 1760. The house had belonged to John Lardner, his grandfather, and probably passed through his uncles before coming to his father. His uncle Lynford had died in 1834 and Richard Penn had moved to North Carolina, serving in the Confederate Army. James' father died in 1881. From the "Decennial Register of the Pennsylvania Society of Sons of the Revolution 1888-1898" : James Lawrence Lardner of Philadelphia, elected to membership on 14 March 1892, the grandson of Cornet John Lardner.
