About James Lawerence Lardner, Jr.

The son of Rear Admiral James Lawrence Lardner's second wife, Ellen, he was born in Philadelphia in about 1857. He resided in the Lynford Lardner mansion of 1760. The house had belonged to John Lardner, his grandfather, and probably passed through his uncles before coming to his father. His uncle Lynford had died in 1834 and Richard Penn had moved to North Carolina, serving in the Confederate Army. James' father died in 1881.
