Biography ==James was born in 1709, the son of John Lawrence andSusanna Petgrave. James married Mary James in 1738 and they had six children<ref>Vere Langford Oliver, editor, Caribbeana, being miscellaneous papers relating to the history, genealogy, topography and antiquities of the British West Indies (6 vols); Lawrence Pedigree</ref>.

He passed away in 1756 and was buried 16 June in Kingston, Jamaica<ref>Vere Langford Oliver, editor, Caribbeana, being miscellaneous papers relating to the history, genealogy, topography and antiquities of the British West Indies (6 vols); Lawrence Pedigree</ref>.
