Mr James Lester, 39 lived at 29, Harwood Street, West Bromwich, Staffordshire. He had a wife, Alice and daughter, Jane.
Lester boarded the Titanic at Southampton, he was travelling to Pontiac, MI. Accompanying him were three relatives Alfred, John, and Joseph Davies 1. All four men lived at the same address with the Davies' parents and all apart from Alfred worked at the same Ironworks in Ettingshall, Wolverhampton.
All four men lost their lives in the disaster. Lester's widow received aid from the Titanic Relief fund 2.
Notes 1. Birmingham Daily Gazette states that they were his nephews, Lester's wife being the sister of Mrs Davies, the mother of the three brothers. However, another source (William Salt Library, Stafford) states that Lester was their brother in law. 2. Mansion House Titanic Relief Fund Booklet, March 1913) Number P. 333. Lester, Alice, widow and Jane child, received weekly pension.
