About James Lyle
JAMES LYLE, married about 1700, MARGARET SNODDY, of Ballyrickard-beg, a daughter of William Snoddy who was first husband of Jane Adamns of Ballysnodd. Her second husband was Thomas Sloan. Sisters of Jane Adams were: Grace (married James Snoddy), and Sarah (married William Irvine). The Snoddy family came to Ireland from Scotland about 1652. A sister of Margaret Snoddy was Elizabeth who married Hugh Manford, of Ballyclare, and died August 12, 1726. His many descendants.
James Lyle lived and died in the old Lyle home. In that home all of his children were born. They were: Elizabeth (Lyle) Beggs, Jenny (Lyle) Ogilvie, Matthew Lyle (married Esther Blair), Robert Lyle (married Ann Jane Locke), Daniel Lyle (married Mary Blair), William Lyle, and probably James.
