James Eli McFail

James McFail was a soldier in the Revolutionary War and also reportedly served in the Indian wars. He lived in the Barnwell District of South Carolina during and after his service.

His wife was Judith and her maiden name unknown at this time but she died in Liberty County, Georgia ..

James lived in Barnwell District, SC for some years during and after the Revolution ..
Records were found there of a DEED from him and his wife Judith -- to Ann Collins
Dated February 4, 1800 for 142 acres granted John McFail November 16, 1787 --- located on the north - west side of Great Saltehatchie Creek

About 1810 James moved his family to Liberty County, Georgia , where they settled in the Taylor's Creek section .. He was buried in the Old Baptist Church Cemetery about 1/4 mile east of the Methodist Church Cemetery at Taylor's Creek ( this section now enclosed in the Camp Stewart Reservation in Liberty County, Ga. )

Mrs. Judith McFail moved to Lowndes County (now Brooks County) @ 1825 to live with her son .. She later @ 1838 moved back to Liberty County and passed away ..

She drew land in the 1838 Georgia Land Lottery as the widow of a Revolutionary Soldier while living in Lowndes County, Georgia ..
