James Stevenson McKinley

Biography

James Stevenson McKinley served under General Harrison in the War of 1812 and fought in the Battle of Tippecanoe. Soon after 1812 they moved to Ohio. During the 1830’s, James became interested in the iron business. He was manager of a charcoal furnace for a number of years at Lisbon, Ohio. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church 1822 – 1876. The family moved to Great (South) Bend Indiana in 1844. The couple died of Malaria together on their 40th Anniversary. They are buried together in Bucyrus, Ohio.

Dr. Vallandigham.His eldest son was William McKinley who was the father of President William McKinley.
