James Middleton

According to http://www.patrickspeople.co.uk/ourfamily/4627.htm he was the father of Isobel Middleton, who married Alexander Garden/Gardyne (b. 1611) M.A. (King's College 1631). None of the sources listed on this site confirms this. A much more likely connection is listed in Mystics of the north-east. It refers to several letters in which principal George Middleton (son of principal Alexander) is mentioned as cousin to the Gardens, which would make Isobel a sister of Alexander and Earl John.
