About James W Miller
JAMES W. MILLER 20, an army paratrooper, was killed in action in Holland Sept. 20, 1944 after serving overseas two months. Word of Pfc Miller's death was received by the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Miller, Wabash. He was born in Wabash April 11,1924 and educated in the local schools. Pfc. Miller enlisted in the Army Dec. 18, 1942 and after receiving his training as a paratrooper was sent overseas in July 1944.

OBITUARY - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN) PVT. JAMES MILLER'S BODY BEING RETURNED FOR BURIAL IN CITY. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Miller Sr., 608 South Miami Street, have been notified that the body of their son, Pvt. James W. Miller, 20, is one of the 152 bodies of Indiana soldiers which are being returned to the United States aboard the U.S. Army transport Barney Kirchbaum.
Pvt. Miller, a paratrooper, was killed in action in Holland on Sept. 20, 1944 after being overseas five weeks. He enlisted on Dec. 18, 1942, and prior to that had been employed at the Bunker Hill Naval Air base. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge.
The decedent was born on April 20, 1924 in Wabash, the son of Clarence and Faye (Holcomb) Miller, both of whom survive. Survivors besides the parents are 8 brothers, Edwin, Redding, Calif., Robert, Clarence Jr., Richard, Harold, Max, Eugene and Kenneth, all of Wabash; a half-brother, Carl, Wabash; 3 sisters, Mrs. Mary Stevens, Mrs. Mark Driscoll and Betty Lou Miller, all of Wabash. The maternal grandmother, Mr. Rose Holcomb, Wabash, also survives.
Funeral services are being arranged by the Wire Funeral Home which will be notified three days before the body is shipped from the distribution center in Columbus, O. #Burial will be in Falls Cemetery. Military services will be in charge of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
FUNERAL - Plain Dealer, Wabash (IN) Funeral services for Pfc. James W. Miller, World War II casualty, will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Wire Fuenral Home. The Rev. Sam Emerick of the First Methodist Church will officiate and #burial will be in Falls Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Friends may call at the funeral home.
