James Mitchell married Ruth Trill in December 1851 at the Wesleyan Chippendale Chapel. Confirmed by Witnesses to the marriage who were family members, Sarah Jane Sonter, sister to James and James Towner, husband of Ruth's sister Caroline. James and Ruth had 3 daughters Jane born 1853 at Kissing Point, Charlotte and Frances. Charlotte died aged 14 of Consumption at Ballina. This James was never married to Mary Mann. The James Mitchell who married Mary Ann Mann was born in Scotland and arrived in Sydney about 1844 with his parents and his sister Lillias. James did not have brothers named John or George. His 1/2 brother was as you have here John MacKenzie. He was an only son to Michael and Jane and had 5 sisters. John's father was John Mitchell
