Powderly - James Benjamin Mitchell, 94, of Powderly, died at 7:40 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22 at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital.

He was born in Muhlenberg County Sept. 1, 1872.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday in Central City with the Rev. S.A. Kittinger officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nannie Edwards Mitchell; eight daughters, Mrs. Dave Rhoades of Martwick, Mrs. Elna Whitaker and Mrs. Hazel Doom of Central City, Mrs. Una Drake, Mrs. Maybell Vincent and Mrs. Bonnie Lee of Powderly, Miss Josie Mitchell of Evansville and Mrs. Evelyn McEvain of Chicago; son, Henry Mitchell of Chicago; sister, Mrs. Delia Board of Powderly; brother, Bud Mitchell of Central City.
