His parents were James W. and Delphia (Vowell) Mize. Wife was Mary Catherine (Warren) Mize. They had five children. Edmund, John Wesley Jr., Frances Lou, George Jefferson, and Homer Pierce. He is the Great, Great, Granddad of my wife, Ruby Elaine (Mize) Garrett. Their are four other graves besided his. His was the only one to have been marked. We do not know who the others are....

Information taken from the CSA Records: Mize John West, Pvt., Enlisted 5/1/62, Newnan, Surrendered 4/9/1865 Appomattox with Gen. Lee. 1850 Census list John W. Mise age 6 living Coweta Co in the household of Delpha Mise. PR Applied Dekalb Co. 9/24/1900, born Heard Co. 6/2/1844. Witness J.R. Stamps acquainted with Wesley Mize for 38 years, and served with him in army until wounded and left and was not present with him at the surrender. Mize died 4/11/1915. Widow applied Dekalb Co. 10/25/1915. J.W. Mize married Miss M.C. Warren 5/27/1866 in Dekalb Co. Affidavit by W.H. Warren. NG Living Lithonia, GA 1880's.
