James Pfannenstein, age 83, of Cambridge died June 12, 2012 at The Haven House in Cambridge.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Isanti. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service at church and also from 4 – 8 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM on Friday, June 15th at our Isanti Chapel. Burial will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

James Alfred Pfannenstein was born September 11, 1928 in St. Joseph, Minnesota to Hildegard (Kose) and Michael Pfannenstein, Sr. He was raised in St. Joseph and graduated from High School there. He then served in the Navy for several years. On May 21, 2949 he married Shirley Randall in St. Cloud and they made their first home in St. Cloud. They moved to Blaine and then in 1976 they moved to Braham. In 1990 he moved to Grandy and then back to St. Cloud until 2005 when he moved to Cambridge. His wife, Shirley died in 1988. In September of 1991 he married Fern Sundstrom. His wife Fern died in 1995. James was employed by Honeywell in New Brighton for 32 years. He was a member St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Isanti. James was an avid fisherman, he loved to travel and going to casinos. He was an active community volunteer and enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Grandy Lions Club and Braham Moose Lodge.

James Pfannenstein died June 12, 2012 at The Haven House in Cambridge at the age of 83 years 9 months and 1 day. Besides his parents he was preceded death by 2 sons, Michael and James; his wives, Shirley and Fern; sister, Lois; brother, Michael; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Stan Knaus; brother-in-law, Richard Randall.

James is survived by 8 children, Sandee (Dave) Mellum of Lakeway, Texas, Richard Pfannenstein of St. Cloud, Susan Frey of Pine City, Scott (Colleen) Pfannenstein of St. Cloud, Todd (Cindy) Pfannenstein of Oak Grove, Mark Pfannenstein of New Prague, Lisa Swift of Rush City and Michele (Dennis) Yaggy of Isanti; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Jerry (MaryAlice) Pfannenstein of Melrose, Chuck (Joan) Pfannenstein of St. Louis Park, Ron (Marie) Pfannenstein of Edina; 3 sisters, Andrean Pfannenstein of Stacy, Gladys (Donny) Schneiders of St. Joseph, Ruth (Lloyd) Pallansch of Clitherall; brother-in-law, Al Pflipsen of St. Joseph; sister-in-law, Darlene Randall of St. Cloud; and by many other relatives and friends.
