About James Henry Rinks
James Henry Rinks served as a Sergeant in Company A, 2nd Tennessee Mounted Infantry, U.S., during the Civil War. Additionally, he came with Union troops to Shiloh the day after the major battle there--referred to as The Hornet's Nest.
US Civil War veteran: involved in skirmishes & was with Union troops who arrived at Shiloh, TN the day after the Battle of the Hornets Nest. Pension papers available thru National Archives.
The only children (three daughters) that he & Martha Jane Morrison had were: Mary Elizabeth Rinks Brewer, Margaret Lavinia Rinks and Suffina Rebecca Rinks.
Jim Rinks remarried a Susan Foster (after Martha Jane Morrison Rink's death in 1865) & they had about 8 children. Susan Foster is his wife who filed for his Civil War Pension w/the US govt.
He is buried in Lexington (Lauderdale Co) Alabama.
