James John Thacker and his wife Mary Ann Pearce Christopher came to Napier NZ on the Helen Denny in 1874 Like his father, James John was a skilled builder and mortar mason. His mother was Caroline Small. His grandfather was a victualler in Devon. They lived in James St Devonport, Plymouth.
