About James Tuffin
GEDCOM Note
BIOGRAPHY: I have derived James' existence as Edward's brother from a number of sources. First, Dorothy Tuffin Locke recollects an "Uncle Jimmy" Tuffin. Second, that brother Jimmy had a second wife Emmeline, according to Barbara Pederson. Third, per the 1921 Census, James Tuffin of Little Bay Islands lived with his sister Martha, born in August 1867. This matches exactly Edward's sister Martha.
BIOGRAPHY: The 1921 Census lists James as a fisherman and a Methodist.
BIOGRAPHY: The marriage record of James Tuffin and Priscilla Anstey lists James as a Methodist.
BIOGRAPHY: James was baptized on September 10, 1853 at age 8 months per Barbara Pederson; however, the 1921 Census lists him as having been born in January of 1855. I have used Barbara's date.
BIOGRAPHY: James is mentioned in the James Strong 1876 ledgers owned by Barbara Pederson; apparently James, as well as his father Thomas, worked for the Strongs.
BIOGRAPHY: James was an elector and house holder in Little Bay Islands in 1889, per voting lists in the Thomas Peyton Collection at PANL.
BIOGRAPHY: James left all of his property to his wife Emeline at his death.
