<p>[Ashenew-2-20-00.FTW]</p><p>[284754-sims.FTW]</p><p>James was born in North Carolina about 1745, and died about 1820 in</p><p>Montgomery County, Georgia. He and his wife,Elizabeth (unknown) had six</p><p>children. James moved to Burke County, Georgia,from Onslow County,</p><p>North Carolina, about 1790, and lived there until he removed to</p><p>Montgomery County (now Emanuel County) about 1800. He was commissioned</p><p>Justice of the Peace of Montgomery County , October 23, 1801. He</p><p>apparently moved back to Burke County for a short stay by 1803 at which</p><p>time he registered toparticipate in the 1806 land lottery, as a resident</p><p>of Burke County. He also drew land in the 1821 land lottery, drawing lot</p><p>216, 13th districtMonroe County. His heirs on March 26, 1822, gave a</p><p>power of attorney to their brother, Moses Warren, to sell said lot of</p><p>land (deed book "D", page 6, Monroe County). This instrument was signed</p><p>by Benjamin Warren, Amos Warren, James Warren, Josiah Warren and David</p><p>Griffin, they with said Moses, all being residents of Emanuel County at</p><p>the time.</p><p>James, Sr., made deed of gift (his property, slaves, cattle, and goods)</p><p>to his six children above named on August 22, 1809, residing at the time</p>in Montgomery County (see Deed Book NKA, page 383, Montgomery County).
