About James Webber
Son of Leonard and Patience Webber and likely baptised in July 1739 in Creech St. Michael (there is a damaged record for a child of Leonard and Patience). His wife died in 1771 and he left his only child with his father and left for Surrey, apparently with his sister Betty. He wrote his father about 1773 and was never heard from again. In 1778 his father placed an advertisement in the London Gazette seeking information on his whereabouts. By the 1780s they thought both James and Betty had possibly gone to America or the West Indies.
Mentioned in his father's 1791 Will as the father of Hannah Tattle, in a way that suggests Leonard knew or assumed he was deceased at that point. Probably the one who married Amy Hartnell/Hartnol/Hartwell, especially as Hannah named her eldest daughter Amy.
