While Peter Jans De Wit's father was no doubt a Jan de Wit, it is unlikely he was a brother of Claas and Emmerentia, the children of Jan DeWitt.3 Name variation: Capt. Jan DeWitt.1,2 Capt Jan DeWitt was in 1614 on the ship, 'Little Fox', that sailed up the Hudson River in 1614.2
