Jan Swart (1961 - 2007)

Brief overview:

Jan (46), co-owner of Total Fuel station, was shot dead in his bakkie by an armed robber with an AK47, in Church Street, Pretoria on 17th December 2007. He and his colleague, Sarel Blignaut, were parked at the boom to the ABSA bank when five males, armed with an AK47 assault rifle and two pistols, and started shooting at them.

The perpetrators forced the men to unlock the bakkie and stole the money. Sarel fell out of the bakkie and lay on the ground. Jan, who had been shot, lay outside the bakkie with his torso on the car seat. He died before the paramedics arrived.

Capt. Police spokesman Paul Ramaloko said the robbers were still at large. No further information can be found.
