Brief overview:

Jan (80), a smallholding farmer from Kameeldrift, was shot in the stomach on 5th May 2010. He was also hit in the arm with another bullet. His attackers, believed to be two men who have been harassing the community for several years, fled with only a small portable radio and cellphone. The room was full of blood splatter.

He was taken to Steve Biko hospital in a serious condition, and underwent a two hour surgery to repair his colon and intestines. Jan died from his injuries, shortly after.

Insp. Police spokesman Louis de Bruin said police are investigating charges of armed robbery and attempted murder.
