General Notes: The 1791 Franklin Co. VA Personal Property Tax List has John Bird Sr. with 3 Tithable in his household, but only 2 are Tithable in his household in the 1792 List. Abner Bird appears for the first time on the 1792 list. Abner Bird appears on the 1792, 1793, 1794 and 1795 Franklin Co. VA Personal Property Tax List. His absence on the 1796 and 1797 tax lists suggests that he died early in 1796.

Franklin Co. VA Order Book 1786-1799, p. 346. June, 1798. On the motion of Isaac Davis and Jean Davis, administration is granted them on the estate of Abner Bird, dec'd. Where upon they entered into bond and qualified according to law. Hugh Woods, Hugh Martin, Marcom Lovell, and William Craig or any three of them being first sworn are appointed to appraise the said estate and return an inventory there of to court.

Franklin Co. VA Will Book 1, p.133: Inventory and appraisement of the estate of Abner Bird, dec'd made June 16, 1798. Items mentioned include 7 cattle, 1 shilling hoe, 1 Bible, 2 feather beds and furniture. Total value, $322.85. Certified June 16, 1798, Hugh Martin, Markham Lovel, William Craig. Recorded at Franklin Court, Sept. 1798.

Consent signed by John Bird, who states that he is "her nearest relative" April 28, 1798 (p. 9) per William Hunt (Other sources say security by Williamson Davis)
