About Jane Washington

Col. Champe of Lamb's Creek had six daughters, all noted beauties. Elizabeth married Judge Plemlng; Jane married Col. Samuel Washington; Mary married Col. Lewis Willis; Lucy married Austin Brockenbrough; Ann married Col. John Tallaferro; and Sarah married Col. Edward Carter of "Bleinheim," Albemarle County. See FTM, CD186, p. 742.

It is one of the fine modern estates of King George, a home of the Grymes family, having been the home of Custis Grymes, son of Benjamin Fitzhugh Grymes, second son of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Fitzhugh) Grymes of Eagle's Nest (27). Benjamin F. Grymes married a sister of Lucy Brockenbrough Pratt, wife of Daingerfield Lewis of Marmion (25), daughters of Jane (Brockenbrough) Pratt, daughter of Austin Brockenbrough, who married Lucy Champe, daughter of Colonel John Champe of Lamb's Creek and sister of Jane Champe, first wife of General Washington's brother, Samuel Washington (9). Woodstock descended to Custis Grymes' son, Benjamin Custis Grymes (1861-1930) ...."
