About Jane Curry

The Age Strathroy, Ontario, Canada, Thursday, April 10, 1924, page 8: "There passed away at the family residence, fourth line, Adelaide, on Thursday, April 3, in her 77th year, Jane Patterson Curry, wife of the late William Garner Curry. Though in poor health for some time, Mrs. Curry's condition was not regarded as serious, and her demise came as a decided shock to the family. Mrs. Curry was a daughter of the late Thomas Patterson, one of the early settlers of this, and was born in Ireland, coming to Canada with her parents, when an infant. She, with her husband, who predeceased her some years ago, were among the valiant pioneers of this district who cleared away the forest wilderness and hewed out homes of comfort and prosperity, in the days when incessant toil and privations were general. There are left to mourn her loss, the following children: John Curry, formerly Warden of Middlesex; Sir Arthur W. Curry, President of McGill University; and Misses, Mae, Ethel and Mabel Currie, all at home. The funeral, which was private, was held on Sunday afternoon, and was very largely attended by relatives and friends of the family. Rev. I. Couch conducted impressive services, and the remains were borne to their last resting place in Strathroy Cemetery by her two sons, and four nephews, viz.: Thos. Patterson, of Windsor; John Patterson, of London, Ontario; Dr. Richard Patterson, of Detroit, and Wm. A. Morgan, of Adelaide."
