About Jane Deverill

Census records indicate she was born in 1832 in Hautbois (pronounced 'hobbis'), Norfolk - probably either Great or Little Hautbois which are hamlets attached to the villages of Buxton and Lamas, and fall within the Lamas parrish.

There is some supposition about her siblings based on limited available records. The 1841 census identifies her and her parents and some siblings, however other siblings are derived from the parish records via FamilySearch and some may be spurious.

The 1851 census still places her in Hautbois, living with her parents.

There are no obvious records of her (or her parents or siblings) moving out of Norfolk, but at some stage she moved to London.

She married George Deverill (who came to London from Wiltshire) in Westminster in mid 1855, aged 23, and they had their first three children in Deptford, Kent before moving to near Brentwood in Essex on the northeast side of London. She had nine children in total.
