Greetings,
My name is Scott McCord and I am the Coroner down in Newton County, Indiana. I also am a Case Manager for Identify Indiana Initiative which is a group of Coroner’s, Law Enforcement and a Forensic Anthropologist dedicated to identifying the human remains found here in Indiana. We have been working a cold case from 1976 in which the body of a woman was found in a corn field in Benton County, Indiana. She had been shot once in the head and her body was in a large cardboard box that was dumped into the corn field.
We sent a bone away to a Forensic Lab and had her DNA sequenced. We then ran the DNA for ethnicity. We have found that she is largely Croation, and we have always thought that she might have come from the Chicago area.
Here is some information on her:
Date found: October 8, 1976
White female
Age approx. 55-65 (estimate only)
Height 5’ 2” (Approx)
Weight 160 pounds (Approx)
Hair Gray to Graying
Eyes unknown
Medical info:

Moderate (8cm) scar from below the sternum to the umbilicus
Clothing Info:
Beige Antron Slip size 40. Brand name Sliperfection.
Beige panty girdle.
Double knit pant suit consisting of two-tone green front button-down jacket and solid green slacks (size 22 1/2) no brand name noted.
I am reaching out to you in hopes that someone might recognize her or remember someone who went missing about that time. If you have any information, please contact me at:
