PARENTS: Named in her father's Will as "Jinny." Jincy" and "Jensey" are nicknames for "Jane" and appear to be family versions of the more common "Jennie."

MARRIAGE: 1850 Putnam Co., IN census. Location from place of birth of the children. Year of marriage from The Darnall, Darnell Family, Vol. II, Section IV. Compiled by Alvin Dodd Conley, p. 73. Henry Foster met Jane Nelson when she visited her sister (Peggy Harrer). He was apprenticed to Mr. Harrer as a cabinet maker.

They moved in with her parents Mary and William Nelson Sr. after their marriage. She was the youngest and had been caring for her parents.

CHILDREN: from the 1850 Census 1850 Census, Putnam Co., IN lists Henry Foster, age 58 Jane Foster, age 47 Wm, age 19 Eliz, age 18 James, age 13 Susan, age 11 Catherine, age 9 Evelene, age 7 James C. Ashby, age 25; and Mary Ashby, age 22 (daughter of Henry Foster - according to Henry's Will - and wife of James C. Ashby).

LAND: Moved to 8 miles north of Greencastle, Putnam, IN. about 1830, with the James Nelson and Daniel Harrow families.

BIOGRAPHY: After her husband's death (1863), she removed with her children to Douglas Co., KS.

NOTE: "The cholera was raging in [18] thirty-two." From Rebecca Jane's journal.

DEATH: "Jane Foster Died Feb. 25 1870 in the 66th year of her age." From her tombstone.
