Jane "Jean" Gibson was the daughter of Walter Gibson and Margaret Jordan. She was born in 1742 in Bladen Co, NC. She married Joseph Hardin on 7/8/1762 in Henrico Co, Virginia Colony. They soon moved to the Salisbury District (now Rowan Co) of the North Carolina Colony settling in the newly formed Tryon Co, NC Colony (just formed out of Mecklenburg Co), where he became Justice of the Peace in 1772. They were the parents of 14 children: Joseph Hardin, Jr.(twin) 1/22/1763 John Hardin, Sr. (twin) 1/22/1763 Jane Ann Hardin (Goodin) 1764 James W. Hardin, Sr. 1765 Benjamin Hardin I 1767 Robert Hardin I 1769 Mary Easter Hardin (Galleher) 1773 Rebecca Hardin (Steele) 7/26/1775 Elender Hardin (Thacker) 1774 Margaret Hardin (Steele) 1776 Gibson Hardin 1777 Amos Hardin 2/28/1780 Benjamin Hardin II 12/28/1780 Robert Hardin II 1/3/1789 Benjamin II and Robert II were named after older brothers who had been lost in battles with Native Americans. Jane Gibson Hardin died on 3/25/1817.
