Biography

Jane was born about 1560.
Jane St John [1] was the daughter of Nicholas St John of Lydiard Tregoze, Wiltshire, England.[2]
Jane married Robert Nicholas of Manningford, Bruce, Wiltshire.[3][4]
Robert Nicholas died about 1602, as evidenced by the following record:
"Inquisitio post mortem of Robert Nicholas, of Brokenborough, in the manors of Manningford Bruce, and Cherrington, al. Chirton ( for the dowry of Jane St. John his wife), and in Brokenborough, Bishop's Cannings, and Chippenham ; Marlborough, 17 Sept. 1602."[5] Children of Jane St John and Robert Nicholas

Nicholas, Richmond and Webb differentiation
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Nicholas-121
Just for clarity, it is good to differentiate between a couple families who were conflated in the past.
- Elizabeth Nicholas (c. 1590-bef. 1634), daughter of this profile, married John Richmond alias Webb of Rodbourne Cheney, Wiltshire (c. 1590-1641) (location and date of their marriage is not yet known). After Elizabeth's death, John married Elizabeth Philipps (daughter of Sir John Philipps, MP). This John Richmond/Webb died in Wiltshire and did not emigrate to New England.
- John Richmond alias Webb of Ashton Keynes or Amesbury, Wiltshire (c. 1594-1664) who DID emigrate to New England, had a wife who's name is not known. Because both Johns were Richmond alias Webb and were both from Wiltshire, they were conflated and many internet trees showed the New England emigrant to be married to Elizabeth Nicholas.
- Flag of Berkshire (adopted 2017)
- Richard Nicholas was born in Camden, Berkshire, England.
- He may have been the Richard NICHOLAS, Birth: 1560 in Camden, Berkshire, England Death: Aft 1615, who married Jane SAINT JOHN b: 1575 in England, Married: 1595 in of Camden, Berkshire, England, and had daughter Elizabeth NICHOLAS b: 1596 in Camden, Berkshire, England
- Richard Nicholas was the father of the Elizabeth Nicholas who married John Richmond alias Webb of Rodbourne Cheney, Wiltshire.[1][2]
- See research note on profile of linked daughter for "Removed Jane St John (Saint_John-59) as mother. She married Robert Nicholas, not Richard Nicholas and had a daughter Katherine. The 1623 "Visitation of Wilshire" lists the various children of Robert Nicholas and Jane Saint John but there is no direct proof of if or how the Richard of THIS profile is related to that Nicholas family.[3]
- Other matters. Location of Camden needs to be verified. Camden Town or Camden was in Middlesex. Can find no evidence of a Camden in Berkshire.
