Upper Canada Land Petition R12/153, dated 1819 Jane Rogers of Marysburgh, daughter of James Lilndsay of Thurlow, and wife of James Rogers, is asking for land. In this petition, there is also a statement by William Rogers that Jane is his brother's wife, which is proof that James had a brother, William.
ABSTRACTS OF UPPER CANADA LAND PETITIONS - Appendix "A" Petition of Jane Rogers of the Township of Marysburgh in the Midland District, wife of Jame s Rogers, humbly sheweth that Your Petitioner is the daughter of James Lindsay of the Township of Thurlow in the Midland District, a U.E. Loyalist, that your Petitioner is married to the above-named James Rogers and has never received any land or order for land from the Crown . Your Petitioner prays that Your Excellency will be pleased to grant her 200 acres of the waste lands of the Crown and permit William Rogers to locate same and take out the deed when completed. And as in duty bound will ever pray, her Jane X Rogers mark Adolphustown, 226 Jan 1819. Attached Certificate: I do certify that Jane Rogers is my brother's wife and that she was alive and well in Marysburgh about 3 weeks ago. Signed: William X Rogers at York 14 Dec 1819
