Jane is called "Jane Toles" in the 1816 Will of her father. Richard Richards and Jane T. McCraw signed

a deed on 1835 in Halifax Co. VA selling property of William McCraw. (Halifax Dd Bk43:52). In the

1856 settlement of William McCraw's bounty land, Jane T. Richards, wife of Richard Richards, is

identified as a daughter of 131 William McCraw.

The list of children given here is an amalgamation of the lists of the household of Richard Richards in

Jackson Co. MO in the 1850 and 1860 censuses. The first named child, Thomas, was born in VA in ca

1831, Samuel was born in VA ca 1835 and Elisha was born in MO about 1837. This indicates that the

family was moved to MO about 1836. There is no known record of the marriage of Jane McCraw and

Richard Richards, which evidently took place by 1830. There may be other children, both older or

younger. (fbw)
