Jane Ann Walker

Jane Ann Johnson Walker, age 74, of Ankeny, Iowa, died July 13, 2014, after an extensive battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family when she passed away.

Jane Ann was born November 15, 1939, in Iowa City, IA, to Kenneth Johnson and Florance (Prevo) Johnson. She grew up in Bloomfield, Iowa, graduating from Davis County Community Schools in 1958. She married T.J. Walker on July 10, 1959, and moved to the Naval Station in Norfolk, VA, where T.J. was stationed. After the birth of their first daughter, Julie, they returned to Davis County, IA, where daughters Lissa, Vallerie, Mia, and son Ty were born.

While in Bloomfield, Jane Ann worked at the Davis County Hospital and the Gilfillian Clinic, then at the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center and the Riverview Care Center in Des Moines. Jane Ann was an avid golfer, a devoted bowler, and passionate about politics. She was a long-term member of the Bloomfield Country Club, during which she served a term as the ladies' President.

Jane Ann is preceded in death by parents Kenneth Johnson and Florance (Prevo) Johnson Rupe; and daughter Vallerie Roberts. She is survived by her children, Julie (Dan) Presley of Nevada, IA., Lissa (Doug) Jarr of rural Davis County, IA; Mia Walker of Urbandale, IA and Ty Walker (Diane Colton) of West Grove, IA; grandchildren, Danni (Joe) Halbrook of Slater, IA, Connor Presley of Ames, IA, Zane Presley of Nevada, IA, Aaron (Rachel) Jarr of Marion, IA, Logan (Jenny) Jarr of Bloomfield, IA, Troy Roberts of Des Moines, IA, Dakota Meadows of Urbandale, IA, Trevor Walker of rural Davis County, IA and Bayle Walker of West Grove, IA; great grandchildren, Joey Halbrook, Leigha Walker and Cassidy Halbrook of Slater, IA; step-father Orville Rupe of Bloomfield, IA; siblings Tommy (Sarah) Johnson of Mooresville, NC, Doy (Mary) Johnson of rural Davis County, IA, Pam (Doug; deceased) Townsend of Bloomfield, IA and Kim Horney of Macomb, IL; many nieces, nephews, cousins; and numerous friends.

The graveside ceremony for Jane Ann will be held at the IOOF Bloomfield Cemetery, in Davis County, on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 12:30 pm., with a luncheon to follow.

Jane Ann frequently commented on the need for automatic doors at the John Stoddard Cancer Center at Methodist hospital, where she received treatment. It is with that in mind that all donations collected will be given to the John Stoddard Cancer Center.
