We observe, with deep and painful regret, the recent decease of Mrs. Jane Catherine Wever, the wife of Col. Casper W. Wever of Weverton, Md., aged 63 years [note-stone says age 56]. She was one of the best of women, highly intellectual, of a most meek and quiet spirit, full of charity and ready for every good work. The American Colonization Society, as well as other benevolent institutions, mourn her loss. Some persons in Liberia, indebted to her good husband and herself for liberty, and instructed to turn this liberty to advantage, will on that distant shore lament the decease of this true friend to their race. (from The African Repository, October 1859, by the American Colonization Society; pub. by C. Alexander, Washington DC)
Married Caspar Willis Wever, February 13, 1812. Nine children born of this marriage, four died young. The other five were Adam, Patrick, Catharine, Charlotte and Virginia.
